Reminder to Pursue (Half-Year Overview)

At the top of my blog, I currently have a banner that says “Pursue.” That’s the one-word goal that God gave me at the beginning of the year. He wanted me to stop thinking that I had to wait for my future, because I can start pursuing it now. He told me to get rid of the “one day” mentality. Basically, I had to stop dreaming about the future and just jump in!

It’s July now, which means we are halfway through 2019. Crazy, right? The last six months have gone by incredibly fast and have been a heck of a ride. As I look back over what I have accomplished, it’s not much in quantity, but the few things I have done have taken a lot and, overall, I’m pretty happy.

First of all, I was baptized in February! That was something I had wanted to do for a long time, but I was really scared. I don’t like crowds, reading testimonies, or getting dunked in water while the whole congregation watches. It was honestly terrifying. But I trusted God, prayed a lot, and did it. And He was beside me the whole time!

Second, I took a public speaking class with a local college. It was online, but I still had to assemble a group of five people for a live audience. All seven or so speeches were pretty nerve-wracking! I’m not good at speaking AT ALL, but I somehow managed to pass the class with a good grade. My favorite thing about the class though was I wasn’t afraid to make it known where I stood faith-wise. One of my speeches was an informative speech about a Christian camp I go to, and I did my critique paper on a Christian news article that promoted having Bible literature classes in schools. It wasn’t really proselytizing, but the whole class knew I’m a Christian and that was enough to make me happy.

I’ve been practicing ukulele a lot more, and I can actually play a few songs now! Even though I don’t think I’ll be good enough for the worship team this fall, I’m still progressing and moving forward. I’m learning, I’m practicing, and I’ll get there eventually.

One of my non-spiritual goals this year is to get a book published (or at least written). I kept telling myself I would work on it when summer came, and now summer is here! I haven’t done much with it yet, but I have developed the plot quite a bit and now it’s just a matter of sitting down and writing it. That’s something I really hope to pursue in the coming months.

I’m also working toward American Heritage Girl badges and awards, so I feel pretty good about that. I’m thinking big and going outside my comfort zone, so *yay!*

I’ve also been (mostly) diligently blogging. My hope is that one day I’ll be able to influence a wide-spread audience and encourage lots of people in Christ with my posts. I’m not there yet, but I pray for my blog almost every time I write a post and I’ve seen some growth over the past few months! I trust God with my blog, and I know He’ll use it in His time and His way. I’m just the messenger.

God has blessed me so much over the past six months and I’m so grateful for all He has done and taught me. I pray that I continue to grow deeper in my faith and that I keep pursuing Him with my whole heart. 2019 has had its ups and downs so far, but my God has been there through it all.

God can use your life in HUGE ways if you’ll let Him. He takes the little that you have and multiplies it. I highly encourage you to pursue what He has called you to—today! Don’t wait for the future because the future will always be just that. Take advantage of the time He has given you right now. Stop procrastinating and just dive right in.

My 2019 theme song, if you will, has been All In by Matthew West. Read through the lyrics and really think about them:

My feet are frozen on this middle ground
The water’s warm here
But the fire’s gone out
I played it safe for so long
The passion left turns out
Safe is just another word for regret

You may not have started 2019 off with a bang, but you can still make it your goal to finish the year strong! The past is in the past, and the future is now. Pray that God will guide you, and He will take you “deeper than your feet could ever wander.” (Hillsong) Remember Proverbs 3:5-6, and put God first in all that you do.

✨✨✨✨Onward into awesomeness!!! ✨✨✨✨
